Drama is seen as crucial in developing teamwork and self-confidence. Drama is integrated throughout the curriculum in the Pre-Prep and is used in assemblies. Each year group stages a play during the school year. All Prep School pupils have a weekly Drama lesson. Each year, in the Prep, two large-scale plays are produced; the Year 4 play in the school hall and the Year 6 play in JAGS's superbly equipped Prissian Theatre.
In the PrePrep the children engage in a variety of role play activities during the course of spontaneous play in the Reception classes, as well as during more structured lessons in KS1 which will often be linked to topic or other writing activities.
A great many Prep School pupils take private Speech and Drama lessons in school.
