Trips

The Year 12 Politics group had their eyes opened on a recent trip: first came a chance to look behind closed doors at the Royal Courts of Justice to learn how justice is dispensed, enhancing their studies of law and civil liberties. A wonderfully expansive guide told them details they might otherwise have missed, showing them into the court where Joanna Lumley and others listened to the appeal case for the Gurkhas, and even pointing out the water jug Heather Mills used over an unfortunate lawyer.
Then a visit to the Women's Library, to read 'Between the Covers': learning about how feminism has been portrayed through the ages using original materials from women's magazines. After viewing the exhibition, the group enjoyed an investigative session on the Suffragettes and Women’s Movement in the 1960s, comparing the artefacts for themselves. A great preparation for their A2 Ideologies course.
