Feminism and Justice for Year 12 Trip - June 2009

Sixth Form Conference on Globalisation

JAGS has been host of The European Atlantic Movement''s Sixth Form conference on ‘Globalisation and a New World Order for the 21st Century'' on 19 June. Y12 students heard speakers from The Financial Times, The Economist, the 48 Group and the US Embassy giving insight into the EU, Russia, China and US Foreign Policy. We were pleased to be joined by pupils from the Southwark Schools Learning Partnership, including St Olaves and St Saviours, The Charter School, Dulwich College and Alleyns. Students heard lectures on relations between world powers, including the issue of global competitiveness and a ‘new cold war'', and then had then set their own demanding questions to the speakers.

Six Year 13 Politics students attended the inaugural conference of the Movement for European Reform in Brussels on 6 March. The girls heard speakers address many issues facing the EU, including climate change and trade relations with the developing world. They were also able to meet David Cameron and William Hague, which allowed for a photo call on Eurostar on the return journey after a very insightful day.
