JAGS Community Orchestra
JAGS Community Orchestra is a high quality ensemble consisting of current senior girls, ex-girls, staff, ex-staff and local people as well as many professional and semi professional musicians. It is conducted by the Director of Music Leigh O'Hara and led by the Head of Strings Caroline Davis. The orchestra normally performs two or three times a year in September, January and April. Players must be of at least Grade 8 standard and able to cope with just three rehearsals before a concert. We normally rehearse on the Thursday and Friday evening prior to a concert and again on the concert day. In September we often have an additional rehearsal in the previous week. If you are interested in playing please concact the music department. There are limited vacancies in the wind section but players will be kept on a waiting list. There are spaces in the strings and brass.
In January 2008 we have formed a partnership with Dulwich Helpline who provide friendly volunteer support for isolated older people in the Dulwich area. We will be raising money for them at each of our concerts. So far we have helped raise over £1000.
