Ikebana

Known as Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging was once taught to Japanese women in preparation for marriage.

Ikebana is very different from any western idea of flower-arranging. It focuses on the gaps and spaces between the flowers just as much as it does on the flowers themselves, an idea which is reflected in many aspects of Japanese culture. This means there are fewer flowers used than there would be in any western equivalent and each was positioned incredibly carefully, even mathematically.

Learning Ikebana can bring you a fascinating insight into Japanese culture, as well as being interesting and fun. You will surely be amazed by its enchanting beauty.
