Gandhi expert addresses Y12 historians

"Yesterday we were privileged and excited to hear Dr Eleanor Newbigin of SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) talking about the role of Mahatma Gandhi in India's struggle for independence, in particular the way his philosophy of satyagraha and media-savvy methods shaped the nationalistic cause. Dr Newbigin spoke very interestingly, giving us a new perspective on a man we have already learned so much about in our AS History course - no one minded when the talk ran over-time!"
