Herzlichen Gluckwünsch! Congratulations!

We are delighted to hear of the success of our some of our talented linguists in the 2009 Free Spirit National Poetry and Song Competition, and in particular, Anne-Marie Bartsch, Year 10, whose poem “Die Großstadt” [Metropolis] impressed the judges so much that she was awarded runner-up place in the German poem section.

Hannah Blows, Chloe Clerck, Gayle Griffiths, Pooja Patel, Xiaohe Sun and Ayesha Williams are also celebrating news of their win in the other languages song section for their original Japanese composition: The Cake Song! They were accompanied by their teacher, Hiroshi Okura on the piano.

Prizes will be presented to these winners by the judges from the German and Japanese Embassies on Monday 22 June at the Goethe Institute, after they perform their pieces. Who knows what further original writing will be inspired by the event! We will bring you news.
