On Tuesday 29 November 2011 the Lower 6th geographers visited Sutcliffe Park in SE London and Brick Lane. We met at London Bridge first thing and having avoided being swept away by all the commuters we hopped on the train to Kidbrooke. Whilst walking from the station to Sutcliffe Park we witnessed huge amounts of regeneration, especially the demolition of the famous Ferrier housing estate. In the park the girls explored the use of soft engineering strategies to manage river flow. We then headed over to Brick Lane with growing appetites! Having explored some of the side streets off Brick Lane we had a fantastic group lunch together in a small curry house and with full stomachs the girls completed some more environmental surveys of the local streets. During the day the girls developed their knowledge and understanding of river systems and change population structures in London.
