As part of the Settlement Change topic the Year 10 geographers examine the growing demand for housing in the UK. Much of the new housing is built with the environment and sustainable building design in mind. The girls were given a selection of materials collected from recycling bins around school and home and used their creativity to design an eco-house. Some of the most energy efficient designs included thermal loft and wall insulation, rainwater harvesting systems, triple glazed windows and even light tunnels to allow natural light into rooms reducing the reliance on bulbs! The girls really enjoyed this practical lesson!
