Le Paquet Mystérieux

On Wednesday 22nd September, a pair of French actors came to perform a short play in French to Years 7, 8 and 9. It was about two teenagers called Vanessa and Lucas who work in a kiosk in the park. One day Lucas receives a funny phone call from his friend Mark. Mark seems in trouble and then he hangs up. When Vanessa and Lucas arrive at the kiosk they find the door open and what looks like blood on the walls. Even more strange is a mysterious package left on the table. They spend the rest of the play trying to figure out what could be in the package, coming up with ideas such as ‘a bomb’, ‘ a dead body’ and ‘drugs’. Then they have a fight and Vanessa becomes very upset. Near the end she threatens Lucas and his friend from the audience with a baseball bat. Luckily for them she receives a message from Monsieur Courtemanche, who tells her what is really in the package: Two uniforms. One is a gingerbread man and the other is Mr Potato Head. For a finale they did a dance. This might seem like a bit of an anti-climax, but the play was funny if not a bit ridiculous at some points. They had lots of audience participation and it was useful for our French because we could listen to what they were saying and see what they were doing and try to figure out what was going on! It was a fun way to learn some new French.
