Original Work

Performance work created by the girls themselves is showcased throughout the year, and new work is constantly generated. The Theatre is always a hive of activity and the technical manager and stage crew are kept very busy fulfilling inspired design and technical ambitions.

This academic year has seen Year 12 girls creating an Artaudian inspired Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Year 11 girls staged six separate Devised pieces and Year 13 directed Year 10 girls in extracts from Complicité’s Street of Crocodiles.

Junior Drama club is thriving with the able assistance of girls in Year 13, and Year 12 girls are directing junior girls in an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland for a performance on Founders Day.

Some of the most breathtaking work seen in the theatre this year has been the Year 12 AS Devised projects and two stunning Year 13 Play in production pieces directed, designed and performed by the girls themselves. Wertenbaker’s Ash Girl was given a very original and inspired treatment, and Berkoff’s Metamorphosis was visually thrilling.
