Drama
We celebrate excellence in Drama and Theatre Studies in ensemble as well as individual achievement.
Girls are encouraged to create and perform work of the highest standards in both curricular work and school productions. Drama is taught by specialists to everyone in Years 7-9 and it is a popular choice at GCSE and A level. At GCSE many girls are awarded maximum marks for performance and design options, and our candidates’ outstanding written work is used by the exam board as exemplar material for teachers all over the country. Likewise at AS and A2 there is a tremendous depth and breadth of talent, and the practical work produced is outstanding. This year girls were awarded full marks at A-Level by the external examiner for Devised Work at AS and Play in Production at A2. We are justifiably proud of this exceptional achievement.
In June 2004 Kate Craggs’ Drama paper scored one of the top 4 marks out of 47,000 pupils in all GCSE arts subjects in the country. She attended a special awards ceremony in London in October.
