‘FOR THE ARTIST, DRAWING IS DISCOVERY’.
 Life Drawing’, Yves Berger.

It was with great anticipation and excitement that the culmination of a year’s work came to fruition at the Private View of the ‘Drawn Together’ exhibition. In spite of the extreme weather conditions, the Private View went ahead as planned. We were delighted that Ian Dejardin the Director of the Dulwich Picture Gallery opened the exhibition for us, emphasizing the quality of the excellent work on show all exploring drawing in dynamic and varied ways and also the links that have been forged between JAGS and the Dulwich Picture Gallery. The Linbury Room was packed with pupils, parents, friends and special guests all eager to view the exhibited works.  These proved to be highly praised with comments such as, ‘I can’t believe the standard of work’ and ‘this work is stunning – a real achievement!’ heard all around.  Visitors seemed impressed at the diversity and investigative nature of the exhibition and the pupils clearly gained a great deal from seeing their work displayed in such a prominent and important national gallery.

‘Drawn Together’ was certainly an apt name for the exhibition!
