Holst

It was like entering an 80's time warp stepping into the Holst Hall on the last Friday of last term! Neon leg warmers, headbands, hooped earrings and lurid coloured wigs - and that was only the staff! (You'll have to take my word for it.) The photo shows just about the whole senior school, staff and pupils, in 80's own clothes, crammed into a hall perhaps more used to Beethoven than Band Aid. But when there's a chance to have fun making music and raising funds for charity together, we take some beating! So, drawing on its finest musical traditions, Holst House Captains Naa Acquah and Alice Parker cajoled some willing staff to perform a JAGS version of Feed the World, like you've probably never heard it before, complete with live electric guitar, solos and choreography. They might be available for other gigs.

Analiese Doctrove from the charity Rockinghorse, which aims to make life better for sick children in Sussex and Surrey, was absolutely thrilled to be there for the lunchtime performance. She writes "The day was fantastic and I can honestly say it was the best school fundraising event I have ever had the pleasure of attending." She will be delighted to receive the cheque for £1500 raised by everyone's efforts. Well done the House Tutor Ms Gina Thomson too.
