From the Headmistress

It is a pleasure to devote much of this issue to a celebration of the work of Jenni Holman, whose teaching career at JAGS spanned 36 years from 1979-2008. During that time she held a variety of roles: Headmistress of the Junior School, Head of Years 7-9 (the Fourth Forms), Head of History of Art and finally Assistant Head of the Senior School. She was an inspirational teacher and colleague in all these roles, with high standards, huge personal integrity and a great sense of humour. The lives of thousands of pupils and staff at JAGS and JAPS have been touched by her wisdom, infinite patience and understanding over the years.

It is also a privilege to be able to include part of the tribute to Betty Judge spoken by her son, Sir Paul, at the service to celebrate her life. Betty was an indefatigable and irrepressibly cheerful alumna and supporter of JAGS and a shining example to us all.
