Author Visits
Chris Higgins Visits JAGS on February 6th
Three Year 7 classes and the librarians were delighted to welcome Chris Higgins into school on Friday afternoon. Chris talked to the girls and answered questions in the Gallery Library for almost an hour, and then stayed to sign copies of her books.
As a teacher for many years before becoming a full-time author in 2006, Chris understands teenagers, and her writing is very accessible to both girls and boys. She spoke about the plot lines for several of her titles, talking at length about her latest book ‘Love ya Babe’.
This deals with the tribulations of Gabby, whose mother has a late, and fraught pregnancy, just as Gabby hits a difficult patch with her school friends and her family too fall on hard times. Lots of questions followed, and Chris spoke of her need to write from a very young age; she encouraged the girls listening to keep reading. Certainly her books make that an easy option, and the number she signed showed that JAGS girls were following her advice!
