JAGS Music Making
Music making at JAGS (including JAPS)

Pupils at JAGS from the age of 4 learn to sing and play simple instruments.
Some 550 pupils participate in extra-curricular musical activities each week.
36 groups, orchestras, choirs and ensembles perform classical, jazz, gospel, rock and pop music.
Over 30 concerts a year are staged: Orchestral and Choral Concerts in major venues, less formal concerts at school and in local churches, and an annual PopFest, Talent Show and Jazz Night. For further information please visit our Music Department's page.
Groups of girls sing and play at local residential homes and clubs for the elderly and disabled, hospices, hospitals and at community functions.
Regular events involving music from cultures such as Latin-American, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Afro-Caribbean reflect the wide diversity of ethnic backgrounds in both the School and local community
Individual lessons are offered in: piano, jazz piano, organ, synthesizer, flute, recorder, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, drum kit, percussion, violin, jazz violin, viola, cello, double bass, classical guitar, rock guitar, mandolin, banjo, lute, harp and singing.
