Art Fair 2008

                                                                  JAGS Art Fair 2008

The first Art Fair was held at JAGS on the weekend of 21-23 November 2008. It began with a Private View on the Friday evening and was open to the public from 10am on Saturday until 4pm on Sunday, with a brief pause in between for the organisation team and artists to have a break!

We were delighted by the diversity of the fine art displays; everyone commented on the quality and variety of work the 31 artists presented. There was a great atmosphere in the Holst Hall; the mixed media and style of the pieces had instant appeal for the audience, made up of local and long-distance visitors to the school as well as parents and pupils, past and present. We were impressed by the dedication of one particular couple who came down from Lancashire in pursuit of a painting by a favourite artist, and by the couple who found our website, just surfing the internet for an art event to go to. It was really good to welcome and show round some of the local community who had never been into JAGS before. There was lots of mulling over of purchases in the Coffee Shop!

There was an additional online auction for 29 donated works from artists such as Ronnie Wood, Tony Bevan, Norman Ackroyd, Julian Stair, Jane Muir, Louise Simson, Jennifer Lee, Sam Payne, Chantal Gillingham, Andrew Carter, John Luttick.

We very much look forward to the next Art Fair in November 2009!
