Our links with this school are growing through the innovative SHINE project, new in September 2010. 60 children from the Gypsy Hill Federation (Kingswood, Paxton Green and Elmwood Primary Schools) will be attending school for what is called Serious Fun on Saturdays, a scheme sponsored by Goldman Sachs. 3 Y12 helpers, Jenny, Shamica and Jess will need to draw on a range of skills; the focus this term is exploring creative ways to approach core subjects, and building a vision of how they would like to learn in their ‘dream’ school. There will be ‘lab’ days covering maths and puzzles, poetry, science, ICT, and there will also be a trip to the newly-refurbished London Museum where learning sometimes happens in unexpected ways!

From January – April 2011 SHINE will focus on how their dream school could be built, working with architects and looking at the built environment, exploring maths through shape, scale and calculation, and looking at design and technology in action, whilst developing skills in debating, presentation and evaluation through writing, speaking and ICT.

From September 2010 on Monday afternoons, 2 JAGS girls and 2 Dulwich College pupils are running an after-school Art Club, which promises exciting results!
