AAG (Aylesbury Academic Grassroots)
Aylesbury Academic Grassroots
AAG is a supplementary school for children who live on the Aylesbury estate, once the largest social housing estate in Europe. Its founder, Beatrice Nambuya, has won awards for her work in establishing an educational resource for children of all ages and abilities, and hundreds of children have benefited from AAG over the years. Around fifteen JAGS and DC sixth formers spend their Saturday mornings in term time working with 30 children in maths, English and Science, helping them with coursework, preparation for SATS, reinforcement of basic skills or assistance with homework. The sixth form volunteers are essential for providing the individual attention which can make all the difference.
