JAGS Art Fair: three simple words to convey a weekend feast of stunning artwork; of rich, vibrant oils, layer on layer, reflecting light, texture and space, figurative drawings and paintings, expressive, abstract impressions, pastels, watercolours, representational works, sculpture, batik and print-making, blur paintings, portraits, self-portraits, illustrations, still-life, line-drawings, landscapes, buildings of architectural precision, local views and images of London, explorations of power, politics, identity through wit and irony….
This is the inaugural event for the campaign to build a Community Music Centre at JAGS, a place we envisage will be buzzing with local choirs, orchestras and ensembles, classical, jazz, pop and world music, a place to host visiting string quartets, the residency of a national orchestra, recording suites for your own music, practice rooms where older people can re-discover musical talent, where music therapy is available. Whether you are used to collecting art, or perhaps interested in starting a collection, please come to the Art Fair and help us to achieve our dream.
More than thirty local and international artists, taking inspiration from the real and imagined world, using a variety of media, will have work on sale between £50 and £5000.
You can own a donated print by Ronnie Wood, or another 20 artists, including Norman Ackroyd, Tony Bevan, Quentin Blake, if you bid successfully in the online auction. The auction will run until 12 noon on Friday 12th December 2008. For further information please email the Development Office.
Revive yourself in the coffee shop and take time out to consider the options.
Buying a £5 catalogue gives you access to contemporary artwork of exceptional quality. Admission free for concessions.
JAGS has an excellent partnership with Dulwich Picture Gallery. Years 7-13 regularly visit galleries including the National Gallery, Tate Britain and Tate Modern.
